Have you ever planned to go somewhere, but then find out its not in the cards? That’s what happened on a recent Alberta trip… immediately followed by panic! Thankfully soon afterwards, we were given a brilliant idea that turned out to be perfect!
Enter Amberlea …we took that brilliant idea and phoned Gerald at Amberlea Riding School in Edmonton to ask if he had space for us to attend his annual Harvest Show with our HBR Trailer… we were so happy he said “Yes please, come on over! ” and so we hit the road!
This is how it went…
After finishing up at Spruce Meadows, we packed up as usual and headed North on Alberta’s Highway 2, If you have been on a prairie road, it is often long and straight all the way. In a few hours with our exit in sight, we veered off and headed west, just a little though as the directions said turn right on the next dirt road… we LOVE those kinds of directions!
Golden fields as far as our eyes could see, cattle and of course, horses!
Dirt roads, some paved a little, some all the way, this new adventure kept us on our toes. As we passed the huge hedge of trees, we saw it in clear view and knew we were there.
When we pulled into the horse-shoe driveway, we were instantly glad we came. With stalls for 200 horses, vast pastures, many arenas and a beautiful setting, we were set up in no time and felt right at home.
Riders of all ages and levels were here to simply enjoy a weekend surrounded by friends and horses.
The mornings were brisk, so we headed straight to Tim’s each morning for our usual starter snack… London fogs and a toasted bagel with honey… our favorite way to start the day. 😊 Goodies in hand, off to Amberlea.
Every location is unique with so many interesting things to share, but every single time it’s the people that are the icing on the cake! Amberlea was no different, we were very happy to meet many new friends and even saw people we already knew!
One of the many highlights of our trip to Amberlea was a group of riders from Affinity Stables. Each rider in their group came to our trailer and bought a hoodie and then honored us with this beautiful picture of their club!
The kindness shown to us on this trip was exactly why we do this, also a great way to find and learn about gems like Amberlea so that we may share with you another great venue to show you horse in case you would like to visit this area of Edmonton.
Thank you Amberlea, we will see you again that is for certain! 💛
